Simon Ward   |   2018

Simon Ward needs no introduction into the line dance world. With 25yrs experience in the industry, he is a world renowned choreographer, instructor, personality, judge and competitor which has seen him succeed in every aspect of line dance. Simon has been travelling the globe teaching line dance for the past 20yrs & competing and judging for the past 21yrs. Simon is a true ambassador for Australia.

Simon was born and raised in a little seaside town called “Kiama” which is 1.5hrs south of Sydney along the south coast of NSW. He wanted to be a chef or an air steward growing up as a kid. Though through his teenage years and early adulthood, Simon turned professional showing horses. It was then he was introduced to Linedance by chance through a friends mother. He never looked back from that night seeing 300 dancers dancing “ACHY BREAKY HEART” filling the floor with smiles all round. These days, Simon now resides in the city of Sydney where he has had a 18yr long career in bank management.

Simon's highest achievement in competition was winning the Advanced Male and Masters Male solo sections at the CWDI International Championships in California in 1999 & 2000 and has also won many Australian Championships dating back to 1994 along with back to back Australian Cups in 2010 & 2011 with Maddison Glover. He is also a multiple winner at the Crystal Boot Awards, and Choreographer of the Year a number of times in Australia and Denmark.

Not bad for a guy who dropped out of school at 16yrs of age and was told by his teachers that he would never succeed in life. Oh how wrong were they, and he has his late grandmother Violet May Ward to thank for that.
